In keeping with one of our goals in our mission statement, WAVE will be singing for those who otherwise not be able to attend out concerts. On October 17 we will be performing for the residents of the Berkshire Retirement Home in Berkeley. We look forward to being able to bring a live performance of early music to this senior community and also to have them join in singing with us!
WAVE RETURNS TO PERFORM AT SANTA RITA JAIL
Thanks to your generous contributions, WAVE is able to take the "Madrigal Mystery Tour" concert to the women at Santa Rita Jail on October 25. We performed Vivaldi's "Gloria" there a number of years ago, and they got up and danced in the bleachers to the voices of WAVE and the WAVE orchestra. This time we are taking the music to "Sumer is icumen in," a 13th century English canon. We're going to teach them the music to a repeating canonic line and have them sing with WAVE and the stringed instruments as the finale to our concert. It should be very exciting and a lot of fun for all.
The Women’s Antique Vocal Ensemble and the men of the Schola Cantorum of St. Albert Priory will present their annual Christmas concert on December 18. The performance includes music from Worcester Mediaeval Harmony, Piae Cantiones, Cancionero de Uppsala, Guerrero, Morales, Byrd, Hasse, Palestrina, and Lassus. In commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the Dominican Order, Dominican chant and music by Dominican composers will be highlighted. The concert will also include a sing-along of some traditional Christmas carols. Please join us for an evening of ancient and traditional holiday music.
